County Laois
Slieve Bloom Mountains
The Slieve Bloom mountains are breathtaking. They offer mysterious
glens, rivers, waterfalls, historic sites, folklore, villages,
pubs and festivals. The mountains rise gently in a heathery wave
from the limestone plains that characterise the centre of Ireland.
The summit plateau is dominated by blanket bog and though of
modest height, it provides for some fabulous views. On a clear
day, it is possible to see the highest points of each of Irelands
provinces. Something different in the Slieve Bloom Mountains is
The Half Door Set Dancing Club. The Slieve Bloom Mountains are one
of Laois's finest tourism attractions.
